I came to the sandy shore, then: a gentle, clear and calming sea, supine and stretched before me. Yet, no water lay within that bed, but a multitudinous array of trees, only their peaks visible and stretching in the sky, each a cap of verdancy. I surveyed those blessed and innumerable treetops and descended into them, cool and fragrant and earthy. For miles I walked under a canopy wherein light could not penetrate but in the faint slashes peering through swaying branches. And when I emerged on the other side, I was enriched from the journey, from the dare.
